含有生物性粒子的气溶胶，包括细菌、病毒以及致敏花、霉菌孢子、蕨类孢子和寄生虫卵等，除具有一般气溶胶的特性以外，还具有传染性、致敏性等。生物气溶胶广泛存在于室内和室外空气中，大小在0.01~100 μm，一般为0.1~30 μm，室外空气中大于0.2 μm的所有粒子，30%的是生物粒子。生物气溶胶有时又被称为微生物气溶胶,依其种类可划分为细菌气溶胶、真菌气溶胶、病毒气溶胶等。
